ABOUT G100 MEDIA ARTS & COMMUNICATION – UK

It is with enormous pride and great excitement that we launch the G100 Media Arts & Communication wing in the UK (G100-MAC UK).

The G100 is a rapidly growing global network of 250,000 women in 100 countries. It was created by the thought leader and visionary for women, Dr Harbeen Arora Rai, who’s based in India.

The aim is to grow 100 wings (sectors) with 100 women in 100 areas of 100 countries.

We hold focus meetings, workshops and events across the world in a collaborative ecosystem of women, to advance industry skills, positive energy, economic capacity and leadership potential.

Our mission is to actively promote women and provide thought leadership on how to safely achieve economic and social parity within the Media Art and Communications sector in the UK.

The G100 has established meetings with the UN, the EU and IGOs.

The G100 Media Arts & Communication UK (G100-MAC UK) is here to support women in our sector to thrive in a balanced work environment with gender parity and equality for all.

We welcome anyone who identifies as a woman, and gender non-conforming persons who are passionate about female empowerment.

We work closely with our male counterpart organisation, the Denim Club, which has representatives in each G100 Wing.

We are heart-centred global diplomats.

As representatives of this vibrant, innovative and forward-thinking sector, we want to infuse the G100-MAC UK wing with our spirit and create change from the inside.

Although the Media Arts and Communication sector is one of the most progressive and liberal industries, we still suffer from heavy biases, sexist misconducts, and a major under-representation of women in significant roles.

In our sector, which is currently estimated at a £100 billion annual output and one of the largest parts of the total UK economy, we have an enormous duty of care for women.

As gatekeepers of information and broadcasters of news; as producers, journalists, researchers, authors, scriptwriters, actors, PR managers, we need to stand up for and promote equality on all fronts.

IDENTIFY • INFORM • INSPIRE

Our aim is to Identify, Inform and Inspire.

  1. Identify our biggest gender equality challenges from the inside
  2. Create constructive advice and support
  3. Inform and inspire to take action

With the power of our knowledge, creativity and productivity, we want to establish G100-MAC UK as a main participant in the gender equality conversation.

We also want to pop the generation bubbles: to draw on the experience from the women who were at the forefront of the Women’s Liberation Movement in the 60’s and 70’s, to acknowledge their wisdom and hard work for equality; and we invite girls and young women to be a part of the conversation to prepare them for a better life.

As women emerge from behind the scenes to take on an equal part of decision making in our society, we step forward as compassionate, purposeful and resilient leaders. It’s by acknowledging this as our forte that we can create long-term, positive, change.

ORGANISATION STRUCTURE:

The Country Core Team comprises 8 women, headed by the UK Country Chair.

We meet bi-monthly and hold quarterly Round Tables, when we invite the other G100-MAC wing women to discuss and promote matters of interest.

We arrange Focus Meetings, Workshops, Events and Conferences and participate in global events online and in person around the world.

We collate material from all meetings and forward this to relevant institutions and policy makers.

G100 is by invitation or reference only.

G100 VISION AND MISSION:

G100 Vision: To create an equal, progressive and inclusive environment for women worldwide.

G100 Mission: To provide the thought leadership on what needs to be done for inclusivity, safety, the economic & social empowerment of women globally, addressing gender gaps and achieving gender parity within this decade.
